The Pumpkin Patch 2008

Today was our annual Klimek/Dorwin trip to Mommsen's Pumpkin Patch in Rice Lake. We had a beautiful afternoon to go browse for pumpkins and play in the petting zoo. Of course, I took several pictures to share on my blog...

Of course, a trip to the Pumpkin Patch wouldn't be complete without our favorite treat--CARAMEL APPLES!!!

Chad, Nicole, Austin, Andrew, Abby, Carter, and I all enjoyed big, jucy apples covered in thick, gooey caramel---yum, yum!!!

~~~
Bradley chose an orange pumpkin sucker instead of a caramel apple--he loved every bite!
The kids were SO excited!!!
It was a GREAT day at the Pumpkin Patch! Thanks for coming, Dorwin Family!
Happy Fall!
Saturday Morning Basketball
Another Saturday, another day of basketball!!!
Abby had another basketball game this morning in Rice Lake, and she was mobbed with fans!
Auntie Nicky, Carter, Bradley, Grandma Deb, and Grandpa Ken all came to watch the squirrel play ball today! Thanks, everyone! ~~~
A fast break?!?!?Abby played well again this week, but the Raiders fell once again. I know they will win a game yet this season--GO RAIDERS!!!
Forts Folle Avoine & A Squirrely Squirrel
On Friday, October 3rd, I was able to chaperone Abby's field trip to FORTS FOLLE AVOINE ( http://www.theforts.org/) near Danbury, WI. It is the actual site where there were once 2 fur trading posts that operated along side of an Indian village. The kids (and myself!) learned about the way the Native Americans lived, the way the English and British lived, how the trading was done, what kind of houses/dwellings they lived in, tools and weapons they used, food they ate, and much more! There are people there at the fort that dress in period clothing and act out the parts of the Natives and the Europeans--pretty cool field trip for the kids!
Here is Abby's class outside the "Trading Post" (A.K.A. the gift shop)~~~
Kristin and Abby checking out the furs that were traded in the French trading post...It was a fun field trip, and Abby has a really good, well-behaved class of friends!
~~~
Later that same evening...

Abby found the dress-up box and had some fun assembling outfits to show me and the dogs! Here is her favorite outfit--she wanted to pose and for me to capture it on camera--

Enjoy!!!

Wasn't she stunning!!!!

September Sports Wrap-Up

I found a few sports pics of the boys on my camera from September 30th, so, of course, I had to post them!
~~~
Austin played soccer at Spooner on Tuesday night. Spooner beat us earlier in the season, but our team has improved quite a bit since then! Our guys fought really hard, and ended up TYING the game, 0 to 0!!! Thanks to Grandma Pat for coming and sitting thru the cold game with us!
Andrew had a Cross Country Mini-Meet earlier in the evening in Rice Lake--it was the "Rice Lake Root Beer Run". The kids run their 2 miles, and then are treated to root beer floats at the finish line. The kids didn't view this as a "real" meet, so they had some fun during their run...
Here is Andrew--leading the pack! (well, this pack, anyway!!!)~~~
Andrew had another good race, and finished third for Barron. He is a GREAT runner!
