Senior Prom 2009

Recently, my mom and dad attended the Senior Prom at Nalcrest where they are wintering in Florida. They just missed being crowned the king and queen of the prom by only two votes! This was an extra-special night for mom, as she never attended her high school prom. It sounds like they and their friends all had fun getting their outfits together to attend the festivities, and that the prom itself was a blast.
~~~
I had to post a picture of mom and dad that mom sent via e-mail so everyone could see what a good-looking couple they made for their Senior Prom. Doesn't my mom look pretty!?! (and dad looks pretty handsome himself!)I would have crowned this great-looking couple the king and queen of the prom!
Wrestling With Carter Mike
On Sunday, we were fortunate enough to have a free day, so we all hopped in my little white station wagon and drove to Menomonie to watch Carter wrestle!~~~
Carter has improved so much since last year's wrestling season--it is so fun to see him get better at his sport!
~~~
Here is Carter putting the moves on the boy in his second match...
~~~
Taking down the boy from Bloomer in Carter's first match.
~~~
Carter's biggest fan cheered him on from the sidelines...
~~~
Carter never gave up and really put up some good fights during his matches!
~~~
We are proud of how Carter is doing with his wrestling! Keep up the good work, Carter!
~~~
Of course, little Bradley was there to cheer on his big brother! Bradley told me he was going to wrestle, too, when he gets older.
~~~
Austin, Neil, and Andrew were a bit out of their element at a wrestling tournament--no big orange ball in that gymnasium that day!
Congratulations on a great day of wrestling, Carter Mike!
Love, the Klimies

A Tribute to My Teen Lurkers...

This blog post is dedicated to my following of teen "lurkers" that faithfully check the Klimek Chronicles (but never leave a comment--except Nick). Nick was concerned that I hadn't been taking pictures of him and some of the other guys at the recent tournaments. Although I admit, I am a bad photographer--I am usually caught up in watching the game, and I forget to take pictures--I did manage to catch a few shots of some of the guys in action. I will try to do better next weekend, Nick...
~~~
And speaking of Nick, here he is at the Superior Tournament 1-31-09...
I will try to be more diligent in getting pictures next weekend in Chippewa Falls, but I hope you enjoy these for now...
And, for all you lurkers (Neil), I expect to see some comments!
Cleaning Up in Cumberland
The Golden Bears travelled to Cumberland on Thursday night to take on the Beavers in a conference game. The BHS JV had two subs for this game--Lee was feeling better and was back in uniform for the game.
~~~
Our JV boys did well throughout the game--although there were too many times the score was too close for comfort!
~~~
Austin nailed a three-pointer during the game...~~~
Eddie bringing the ball to his teammates...
~~~
Pulling up for another shot...
~~~
Austin was 9 for 10 from the free throw line! Here he is scoring his last free-throw of the night...
Austin had a good game and, I think, scored 12 points for the night!
~~~
The final score of the game: BHS JV, 49, Cumberland, 40
~~~
Our Varsity boys had a great game. They played really well, and they had fun during their game. It was a fun game to see our guys play. Even our coaches were enjoying themselves!
~~~
Coach Baumgard and Coach Schradle
~~~
David "Sparky" Sloan saw some varsity time again during the Cumberland game...
~~~
Of course, I am always on the look-out for funny things... In Cumberland, I found several.
The first thing that struck me as funny was the cheerleaders. Those that know me, know my aversion toward cheerleading in general, so perhaps, I may be a bit critical--no, really! These poor cheerleaders were doing a pom-pon routine while the band was playing. They were performing to the only EMPTY section of bleachers in the whole gymnasium! Cumberland fans were everywhere, and they chose to dance in front of empty seats! Now that was funny!
~~~
Another thing that struck both Jamie and I as amusing (as well as a few people sitting around us), was this particular ref and his "mom pants". I think the picture says it all...
~~~
My final observation of the evening to share with you all came when a small boy on the other side of the gym from me dumped half of his bag of popcorn on the floor. I was totally grossed out when he proceeded to bend down and EAT the popcorn right off the floor by the fistful!
~~~
In spite of all of the distractions, I did manage to watch the game, too! Our varsity boys won by over 15 points!
Happy Birthday, Uncle Woody!!!!!
Happy Birthday to my Little Brother, Woody!
Even though you are #@* years old, I still picture you like this...
~~~
You are a squirrel's favorite uncle! You always take the time to play and have fun.

We hope you had a great birthday, Uncle Woody!

Happy Birthday, Uncle Chad!

Happy birthday, Chad! A guy who pulls double-duty with our family. For me, Chad is my cousin--and my brother-in-law! All three of the Klimie Kids can claim Chad as both their Uncle AND their cousin! Jamie just gets him as a brother-in-law and a cousin thru marriage. Yep, sounds weird, but it's all legal!

Happy Birthday, CHAD!!!We hope you had a great birthday!

BHS JV Comes Up Short Against Somerset...

Tonight was a non-conference home game featuring the Golden Boys against Somerset. Our JV was once again short on the bench--only one sub for the boys to take turns sitting out and take a quick break from the action.
~~~
Our boys trailed most of the game by 3 to 5 points on average. Austin played really well tonight.He played great defense with some stellar steals, scored a few points off of fast breaks from those steals, and he had some really awesome passes underneath for some assists--well, they would have been assists if the ball would have went through the hoop! Our boys had trouble making their shots tonight--many missed "bunnies" under the basket, and our free-throw percentage was not very good, either.
~~~
Here is Austin driving the lane for a shot...~~~
Sizing up the man-to-man press...
~~~
Looking for the open teammate...
~~~
A shot from underneath with teammate, Mitch, looking on.
~~~
What does Abby do during the games she is subjected to go to several times a week, you ask? Well, tonight's entertainment consisted of crawling around under the filthy wrestling mats on the stage and making a "fort" under one of the mats.
~~~
Here are Abby and Bailey (Abz is the one lying on the mat, soaking up the germs).
~~~
Our boys rallied for a comeback at the end of the game, but we didn't quite get the score to where we needed it to get a "W".
Final score, Barron JV: 31, Somerset: 33
~~~
Our Varsity boys had a much more positive outcome to their game tonight. I wish I could tell you what the final score was (I know we won by 20+ points), but I was distracted again in the second half of the game by little Brennan! Yep, I was accused again tonight of being a "baby hog"! I half-heartedly offered Brennan to my friend, Diane, but when she declined, I said, "Good, I didn't really want to give him to you anyway!"
~~~
Here is little Brennan (he is five months old) watching the action on the court.
~~~
Brennan's mom plays for the BHS Golden Girls, so he has seen quite a few basketball games in his five short months. He seems to be getting a bit bored with them!
~~~
Austin's next game is Thursday night at Cumberland.
Hope everyone is having a good week!
Superbowl XLIII Champions--Pittsburgh Steelers!
The Steelers win their sixth SUPERBOWL title!~~~
The Pittsburgh Steelers won Superbowl XLIII with an awesome last (less-than) minute pass from Big Ben to Santonio Holmes in the endzone to beat the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 27 to 23!
~~~
Superbowl XLIII MVP
Santonio Holmes

Someone at our house is VERY HAPPY tonight!
Someone at our house is VERY emotionally exhausted tonight!
Congratulations to Jamie and the Pittsburgh Steelers!
