Birthday Beauty!

Today, for the Squirrel's birthday, I took three girls to the Hair Cafe and Spa in Barron for a "Princess Party". The girls had hair and make-up makeovers. They chose to go with "funky" style, and when they were through, their "Princess Party" had turned into a "Princess of Punk Party"! The girls had so much fun, and they LOVED all of the attention they got the rest of the day with their wild and crazy hair and makeup!

After the hair and makeup transformations, we went to Rice Lake to pick up some new earrings at Claire's. It was fun to look at all of the different kinds of earrings and to pick out that "special" pair to compelete their new look!

Our little Princess sure is growing up fast into a beautiful young lady! We are so proud of her! She is a kind and generous girl with a heart of gold. We can't wait to share many more birthdays with her as we watch her continue to grow into a (gulp) "tween"! Happy birthday, Abby (Abz, Squirrel, Tuna Fish, Twiggy)! We love you!

Umping the Generation Gap and Finding Garage Treasures!

Last Wednesday, June 18th, Grandma Pat and Grandpa Denny came north to watch Austin play basketball at Clayton, and then drove over to Cameron to see Andrew play baseball. Cameron's second umpire failed to show up for the game, so Grandpa Denny offered his expert umpire services and umped the bases for the entire game! He did a great job, and only made one mistake in the whole game. That mistake was made when Andrew slid into second base and was safe at second, then proceded to stand up and took his foot off the base without calling "time out". The Cameron second-baseman actually had the tag on Andrew during the time Andrew stood up, even though Andrew was originally safe at second, so, technically, Andrew should have been called out when he lifted his foot! But Gramps was looking out for Andrew, and he let that one slide!!! :-)

(Just Kidding, Grandpa!!! He says he didn't see him lift his foot/didn't know the rules, and we all believe him!!!)

When Abby and I were in Nelson this past weekend, the girls (Abby, Emily, and Morgan) found a hidden treasure in the attic of the garage!

Here they are sporting the old Artic Cat snowmobile suits from the 70's!!!

Emily and Morgan are wearing Sheila and Sheri's old snowmobile suits, while Abby is wearing Grandma Pat's suit!

Below, Abby found Uncle Woody's old snowsuit and tried that one on for size!!!

I thought the girls were either very brave or very stupid to try on those suits that had been stored in the garage for who knows how many years (over 20 years, at least)--who knows what creature or creatures could have been living in the arm and leg holes!!!

Weekend in Nelson

Abby and I were able to head off to Nelson on Saturday afternoon for Ty Cameron's baby shower hosted by Grandma Pat. It was a beautiful afternoon for the kids (and the Puggle) to play outside, and it was GREAT to see so many aunts, uncles, cousins, grandmas, etc. at the party!

Summer VACATION!!!

We are at the beginning of "our" summer vacation here in Barron--"our" being the kids and the dogs! Jamie and I are still pluggin' away at work!

Today was the kid's first full day off of school, and they do have a busy summer planned.

Austin is playing baseball right now. He plays the majority of his time at second base. Here he is waiting for the throw from the catcher down to second.~~~

Andrew is concentrating on the batter and waiting for the hit to come his way...

Still waitin' at second base! Andrew is playing a lot of second base and outfield this season. He has injured his right elbow and is having a lot of pain. He isn't able to throw very well because of it, so his usual spot at shortstop isn't working for him right now...

Abby has been playing soccer on weekends and Friday nights, and has been keeping busy with friends after school and weekends. She had a friend spend the night last night all ready!

Even Jack and Sophie are glad it is finally summer! Summer for them means ball games, trips to the creek, and trips to DAIRY QUEEN for ICE CREAM CONES!!!

Tomorrow (Wednesday), we get to head off to Appleton for the WIAA Boy's State Baseball Tournaments. Barron has qualified for the State Tournaments again this year, and the whole family is going to watch the game tomorrow. If we win, we will play again on Thursday! Exciting! The dogs get to go to the Holidog Inn again--everyone gets a mini-vacation this week!!!
