Forts Folle Avoine & A Squirrely Squirrel

On Friday, October 3rd, I was able to chaperone Abby's field trip to FORTS FOLLE AVOINE ( http://www.theforts.org/) near Danbury, WI. It is the actual site where there were once 2 fur trading posts that operated along side of an Indian village. The kids (and myself!) learned about the way the Native Americans lived, the way the English and British lived, how the trading was done, what kind of houses/dwellings they lived in, tools and weapons they used, food they ate, and much more! There are people there at the fort that dress in period clothing and act out the parts of the Natives and the Europeans--pretty cool field trip for the kids!

Here is Abby's class outside the "Trading Post" (A.K.A. the gift shop)~~~

Kristin and Abby checking out the furs that were traded in the French trading post...It was a fun field trip, and Abby has a really good, well-behaved class of friends!

Later that same evening...

Abby found the dress-up box and had some fun assembling outfits to show me and the dogs! Here is her favorite outfit--she wanted to pose and for me to capture it on camera--

Enjoy!!!

Wasn't she stunning!!!!

Looks like a fun day for Abz & Mom. It sounds like an interesting place to visit.

On a further note, Abz.....don't try to be a Britt Spears.. but you did look cool.

Love,
Gram Pat
