League Championship Tournaments

Andrew and his team, the Golden Bears, traveled to Osseo this past weekend for a two-day League Championship Basketball Tournament. We were all excited to get the traveling basketball season kicked off. Our team is ranked fourth in the league this year based on last year's performance. Well, you would not have known we were the fourth-ranked team by watching us this weekend!!! Our boys didn't really play well together as a team, and our games were quite sloppy. That being said, I thought Andrew played very well, overall. He kept a pretty cool head at point guard with some tight defense on him, he took some good shots this weekend, and he played very good defense!

Our boys played four games on Saturday in Osseo. We won our first three games against Wausau West, Mauston, and Somerset--it wasn't pretty, but hey, a "W" is a "W"!!!

Andrew was very fortunate and very pleased to have his own cheering section at the tournament on Saturday! Grandpa Ken, Auntie LaNita, Grandma Deb, Auntie Nicole, Bradley, Grandma Pat, Carter, Uncle Chad, and Abby sat with me on one end of the gym to cheer on the Bears... ~~~
One sweet little boy got all tired out from the game--he slept in his mommy's arms through the entire last game of the day!~~~

Unfortunately, our boys lost their last game of the day on Saturday against Menomonie. Menomonie always gives us a run for our money, as we have very competitive games against them every year! UGH! Because we lost our last game, we were dropped down into the 9th to 16th place bracket for our play on Sunday...

On Sunday, the boys had three games to play--our first one started bright and early at 8 am!

Grandpa Denny, Jamie, and Austin--the bleacher refs--sat on the opposite side of the gym from us so they could "help" out the refs with their calls thru out the tournament--they are so helpful!~~~
Sunday, we won two games against Stillwater Red and Mauston, and we lost our game against Duluth East. Our team was exhausted when the final game was done--it was a long weekend of basketball! Hopefully, they are now "warmed-up" and ready to play the next tournaments now that they have this first tournament out of the way! We are proud of them, regardless, for taking 11th place--they played hard, and they ran their little hearts out!
